Setting the default Find symbol style to set a default find symbol preference.

Question:
Setting the default Find symbol style to set a default find symbol preference.

Answer:
A new box has been added in the Style Preference dialog box so a default find symbol preference can be set globally. It is still possible to set the symbol for a particular map in the first Find dialog box.

1. From the Options menu, click Preferences and then Style to display the Style Preferences dialog box.

2. Click the Symbol button to display the Symbol Style dialog box.
3. Select the new symbol style using the options in this dialog box and click OK to save them.
4. Click OK again to leave the Preferences dialog box.

Changing the Find Symbol Style Locally

To see the change in the default Find Symbol style:

1. From the File menu, click Open and select a map to display.
2. From the Query menu, select Find to display the Find dialog box (first one).

This option is particularly helpful with busy or very low contrasting maps.

Note: MapInfo has added two new custom symbols that can be used for the Find feature. They are the Find-01 and Find-02 bitmaps. To access these bitmaps, click the Mark With Symbol button, select Custom Symbols from the Font drop-down list and select the bitmaps.
