Shading a region table based on the count of points within each region.

Question:
How can a region table be shaded based on the number of point objects falling within each region?

Answer:
Starting with a States table and a point table (City_125):




Choose Map>Create Thematic Map and select Ranged Thematic and a region range template:



At step 2 of 3, select the region table and Join:



Hit the calculate dropdown and select "Count":



Check the Join condition:



Click OK:



(Check the "Ignore zeros and blanks" to prevent counts of zero for region objects with no points within them.)
Click Next:



Adjust Ranges, Styles, and Legend as desired, then click OK:
