Summary:
Installation fails with ODBC install errors
Question:
Some users receive the following error when installing a component of MapXsite or MapXtreme that also installs ODBC drivers (Server Tools, Haht components, ODBC):
"The ODBC resource DLL (<system dir>\odbcint.dll) is a different version than the ODBC driver manager. (ODBC32.dll)."
The error goes on to warn that ODBC cannot be installed correctly.
Answer:
This occurs because Microsoft Peer Web Services (the workstation version of IIS) installs ODBC incorrectly. The Peer Web Services installer installs an older version of odbcint.dll resulting in this error. (search the Microsoft KB for more information) The solution is to re-install ODBC on the system. An installer for the ODBC manager can be downloaded from the Microsoft web site at:
www.microsoft.com/odbc/download/x86/odbcdmin.exe ( or, ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/developr/ODBC/public/).
After downloading this file, run the program to re-install the ODBC manager on the system. Then, the MapXsite or MapXtreme components will install without errors.
