Summary:
AnySite 9.0 and issues with Bing Maps functionality
Question:
AnySite 9.0 user's behind firewall's and proxy's have reported problems with Big Maps displaying properly.
Answer:
from Product Management:
Access to Bing Maps through a Proxy Server is not fully functional through the 9.0 release. Full access to Bing Maps through a Proxy Server is currently scheduled for AnySite 10.0.
Limited access may be available, if accessing the Envinsa web-services first (i.e. Envinsa geocoding). AnySite access to the internet through a proxy server is fully functional for Envinsa web-services, for example Envinsa geocoding. When geocoding an address using Envinsa, AnySite can retrieve the Bing tiles while there. Depending on how long the proxy server is open, network traffic, etc., all of the tiles may be returned. If this is the case & depending on how the customer uses AnySite, the customer may be able to work without noticing the issue, especially since the tiles are cached. However, it is more likely for AnySite to only pull part of the Bing tiles, leaving black squares on the map. There is no workaround to retrieve the additional tiles, other than to try to geocode again since it will only fetch the missing tiles. If the customer is trying to fetch the tiles without going through Envinsa, no tiles will be returned.
White-listing the URL’s may help with Envinsa access to the internet but it will not resolve the issue with direct Bing maps access.
At this time, the most reliable workaround is to switch to the OEM StreetPro Map Preference.
