AnySite Desktop and method of importing tab file so simple formula's can be created
Question:
User has a table of zipcodes and multiple fields of numeric data (i.e. Sales figures from different rep's, etc.)
He wishes to create a custom formula that sums 3 of these numeric fields for his custom report.
When he tries to create the formula for his Summary Report in the formula editor by simply listing the fields separated by +, he gets
an error "Summary Report formulas requires using SUM, PCT, WTAVG, AVG, or Count Functions"

How can he create the simple formula he desires?
Answer:
The user must first import the table in to the Data Manager.
Launch the Data Manager and enter a name for the Import Name, Database Name and Group Name Fields
- Here we chose "Simple_Selection"
Set Source Type to File and Click on the ellipsis at end of Source File Name and browse to the MI Pro tab file in question.
Set ID field to field in your table containing the geography ID (ZIP) and set geography level accordingly - ZIPCODES in this example:

Run the import and a text log should be created that indicates how many records of the table imported successfully - here we imported all 10 records:

Now you MUST CLOSE THE CONFIGURATOR if it is open and then re-open it.
Otherwise you will get "No licensed variables..." errors when trying to create the formula.
In the Configurator, select your Report and click on New Formula,
(Note that the icon for our table is now a Blue Box since it has been imported using the Data Manager)

Set the Data Source to our imported table, (Simple_Selection)

and enter a name for the formula, select the variables, separated by a plus sign (+) and click OK
