Product: MapInfo AnySite Desktop
Version: 9.0
Platform: Not Platform Related
Category: Geocoding & Create Points

Summary:
How to force AnySite 9.x to utilize MapMarker for geocoding instead of the 9.0 default of EOLS

Question:
By default, AnySite 9.0 utilizes the internet and PBS-maintained EOLS Servers for geocoding by default.
Frequently user's are blocked by Firewalls, Proxy Servers, etc.
How can they workaround this?

Answer:
User's can either edit the webservices.ini file with the necessary site-specific info per this document:
Document URL: http://testdrive.mapinfo.com/techsupp/miprod.nsf/kbase_by_product/DBB8ADEB2008C356852579FA006317C8

or

they can force AnySite to utilize MapMarker data locally for geocoding:
1) launch the configurator and go to Tools>edit application .ini file and when the document launches,
see the geocoding section and change the method from 5 (Envinsa) to 2 (MapMarker) and then going to File>Save and
re-starting AnySite.

Typically at startup, an error message will be displayed, indicating the AS cannot "find" the MapMarker Data.
To resolve, you usually only need to hit the browse button and navigate to where the AS MapMarker Data is found,
typically at C:\Program Files\MapInfo\AnySite_US\Data\MAPMARKER\Data, highlight the Data folder and hit OK.
If the Data folder is already highlighted, select any other folder and then select the MM Data folder again and hit OK.
Note: sometimes you need to repeat this procedure - simply hit browse again and select the MM Data folder and click OK.

If this does not resolve, please contact Tech Support directly for assistance.
