Question:
Under Table>Maintenance>Table Structure, why are the check boxes to make a field indexed greyed out? What would need to be done to enable the indexed check boxes?
Answer:
The table could be read only. Either save a copy of the table (File>Save Copy As) or remove the read only attributes on all the files associated with the table in Windows Explorer. Or, it's possible the user doesn't have rights to create a file in the directory where this file is located. When indexing a field in a table, the *.ind file is created to store this index. If the user doesn't have rights to create a file in the directory where this file is located, the check boxes will be created out as well.
